autism interventions intellified. Dr Kondekars poem on autism interventions goal directed way

Autism: Where Learning Truly Begins Steadiness is not built By running, jumping, moving fast, A wandering body Makes attention never last. Social skills don’t bloom With toys that never speak, Objects can’t replace The lessons humans teach. Observation isn’t learnt By movement without pause, Still eyes read faces, Not motion without cause. Listening does not grow When hands and feet compete, Divided attention Makes learning incomplete. Entertainment may delight, But it cannot educate, Fun without direction Only teaches us to wait. Language won’t unfold By movement taking lead, Words are shaped by listening, Not only what we do or feel. Discipline won’t settle With hugging, climbing free, Structure builds self-control, Not constant liberty. Social etiquette won’t form Without distance and restraint, Boundaries shape behaviour Before closeness can be gained. Cognition and language— Common sense, thought, and skill— Ninety-eight percent are learnt When listening is still. So if the mind i...

autism medicines and sleep

Image
Sleep related to medicine or diet is short term and dose related. It settles over few days if same dose is maintained If u notice sleep with any medicine, it means the medicine is a cooling agent for behaviour and movement. Sleep doesn't mean that medicine is addictive or habit forming . All sleep causing medicines are not same. All medicines causing sleep are not sleep medicines and they may not have been prescribed for sleep. If a doctor prescribes a medicine and if it causes sleep and you or school is uncomfortable with it the dose needs to be adjusted up or down to make the child comfortable just short of sleep. If you notice any hyperness or restlessness following sleep related medicine , it just means that the child may need double dose.  treat the neurobiology   https://speechandsenses.blogspot.com/2026/03/neurogenesis-synaptic-biology-and.html To understand brain development, read my article on neurogenesis and synaptic biology in autism learning . why does an autism kid avoid eye to eye contact? Dr Kondekar adds the eye to eye focus

Image
for all post links click https://speechandsenses.blogspot.com/p/httpsspeechandsenses.html why does an autism kid avoid eye to eye contact? Autism is a disorder with core feature "poor non verbal communication" , this involves poor eye to eye connection. Autism kids may start staring at objects, toys, corners or light but not staring at living beings easily.  This mainly occurs because they find living beings difficult to connect at understand. Living beings / people are not static like objects but they keep changing colour/ clothes, position and the environment; and this makes them uncomfortable.  When the new awareness/ change occurs, the kid not being used to it gets anxious/ shy/ feared and loses confidence to connect with eyes.  non living objects/ toys being static, the kids finds them easy to control and stay connected  with the object as comfort zone, stimming is a way to stay into a repitition or routine which if changed they find more anxiety. - DRKONDEKAR ...

Listening to Speech is 18 months journey,Dr Kondekar

Image
Often parents of kids with autism and speech delay, keepon forcing lip movements to child without working on listening based learning of speech. When the child starts getting ready to learn few words by listening and expresses with some vocalisation, parents only focus onworking on output of speech forcing the child to talk talk.. say this .. say that etc  Parents feel that if a child with autism listens or  Learns a word right now, he should speak. It's not so.  Read more about speech delay here  https://speechandsenses.blogspot.com/2026/03/when-speech-delay-dont-delay-further-dr.html Even normal kids take 18 to 24 months to learn to talk when leane to listen has been started even at age 6 months. games for autism reversal

Image
Carrom is actually a quiet superhero of a game for autistic kids and adults 🙂 It looks simple, but it hits a lot of important developmental goals without feeling like “therapy”. Here’s how it helps, broken down clearly: 🧠 Cognitive & Thinking Skills Planning & sequencing – deciding which coin to hit first, where to place the striker Cause–effect understanding – angle, force, and outcome become very concrete Problem solving – “That didn’t work, let me try a different way” Great for kids who struggle with flexible thinking. ✋ Motor & Coordination Skills Fine motor control – finger positioning, controlled flicking Hand–eye coordination – tracking the coin and striker Bilateral coordination – stabilizing with one hand, shooting with the other For adults too, this helps maintain dexterity and precision. 🧍 Sensory Regulation Predictable movements Smooth, repetitive actions Minimal noise compared to video games or outdoor sports ➡️ Very calming for children ...

story making story telling and picture reading skills in autism kids , for parents

Image
Teaching Story Making, Picture Reading & Story Telling Skills in Children with Autism By Dr. Santosh V Kondekar Children with autism do not fail to speak because they do not have words. They fail to speak because they do not connect events into meaning. Story making is not just language — it is how the brain learns to think, plan, feel and communicate. If we can teach a child to understand a picture, we are actually teaching him to understand life. Why Story Skills Are Weak in Autism Most autistic children: See details but not the whole scene Know objects but not relationships Know words but not meaning Hear sounds but do not follow a sequence So they may say: “Dog… bone…” but they cannot say “The dog found a bone.” That missing link is story building. What Is Story Making? Story making is the ability to: Notice what is happening Identify who and what Add actions Put things in order Add feelings Speak the full idea This is the brain’s executive + language + ...

executive function development in autism kids

Image
**Why Executive Function Skills Matter in Children with Autism — and How Parents Can Build Them at Home** By Dr. Santosh V. Kondekar (www.autismdoctor.in) When parents say, “My child knows many things but still cannot manage daily life,” they are actually describing a difficulty in Executive Function. Executive function is not about intelligence. It is about using intelligence in daily life. It is the brain’s CEO system — the part that helps a child: Start a task Stay on it Shift when needed Remember steps Control impulses Finish what they begin In autism, this CEO system develops slowly. That is why children may: Know words but not use them Know what to do but not do it Learn but not apply Understand but not organize What Are Executive Function Skills? Executive functions include: What it looks like in daily life Skill Planning Knowing what to do first, next, and last Working memory Holding instructions in mind Attention Staying focused Self-control Not acting impulsively ...
