impulsive child : teaching patience, wait, later and ask properly concepts

IMPULSIVENESS it may be just begining of ADHD ,OR JUST A TANTRUM OR STUBBORNNESS USUALLY, or a controlling behaviour. here are some tips Dr Kondekar tried to help with repeatedly demanding different things, insisting that the parent comply, and then hitting when the demand is refused—is not simply a “therapy problem.”  I would treat it as a specific learned communication/behaviour pattern that needs a fresh functional assessment rather than simply adding more therapies. The important question is: “What does the child obtain by asking repeatedly and hitting?” In autism, aggression can function as communication. It may obtain an object/activity, adult attention, escape from a demand, or control over what happens next. If hitting reliably produces the desired outcome, the child can learn that “hitting works.” What I would do at home Do not try to stop every request. Instead, separate requesting from controlling . For example: Child: “Mobile! Mobile! Mobile!” Parent: “Ask on...

AUTISM AND DIET: EVERYONE HAS AN OPINION — BUT WHO IS LOOKING AT THE CHILD?

AUTISM AND DIET: EVERYONE HAS AN OPINION — BUT WHO IS LOOKING AT THE CHILD? Dr. Kondekar’s perspective on the diet obsession, constipation and the “diet for the ears” watch video by Dr Kondekar before you read the topic click here   There is a curious phenomenon that almost every parent of an autistic child encounters. The moment the diagnosis is made, everyone seems to have a diet to suggest. Stop milk. Stop gluten. Stop sugar. Stop maida. Stop cheese. Give probiotics. Give supplements. Try a ketogenic diet. Try a gluten-free, casein-free diet. Remove preservatives. Remove packaged foods. Try this powder. Try that probiotic. The grandmother has a diet. The neighbour has a diet. Another parent has a diet. The therapist has a diet. Social media has a diet. Soon, parents who came to the doctor with a neurodevelopmental concern are spending their days worrying about food. The question that needs to be asked is simple: When did autism become primarily a dietary problem? It did not...

how autism develops into ADHD In some kids : DrKondekar explains

Why Do Many Children with Autism Develop ADHD-like Behaviour? A Developmental Perspective Santosh V. Kondekar Abstract Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are among the most prevalent neurodevelopmental disorders of childhood and frequently coexist. Epidemiological studies consistently report that 30–70% of autistic children exhibit clinically significant ADHD symptoms, while many children with ADHD display autistic traits. Contemporary literature largely attributes this overlap to shared genetic susceptibility, common neurobiological pathways, and overlapping impairments in executive functioning. However, these explanations do not fully address an important clinical observation: many autistic children appear relatively calm during infancy but gradually develop increasing hyperactivity, impulsivity, oppositional behaviour, emotional dysregulation, and aggression over time. This article presents Dr. Kondekar's Developmental ...

CUDDLING IN AUTISM: REGULATION vs DEPENDENCY

Image
CUDDLING IN AUTISM: REGULATION vs DEPENDENCY (Dr Kondekar Model Framework) WHY ANXIETY HAPPENS Fragmented sensory input Poor brain integration Confused processing Child is NOT misbehaving Child is NON-INTEGRATED ROLE OF CUDDLING WHEN USED CORRECTLY Provides deep pressure (organizing input) Reduces anxiety & overload Builds connection & trust  Helps: Calm → Receptivity → Learning readiness ❌ WHEN OVERUSED Given for every distress Demand-based soothing No transition to learning Leads to: Clinginess Possessiveness Stubborn / rigid behavior  Dependency replaces development   KEY PRINCIPLE   QUALITY + QUANTITY MATTER ✔ Firm, predictable, calm ✔ Short, purposeful ✔ Only during anxiety ❌ Frequent, random,  MODEL INTEGRATION   Brain Before Body → Calm brain, not control child   Connection Before Communication → Build bond, then teach   Input Before Output → Cuddling = sensory input → NOT learning itself CRITICAL TRANSITION Cuddling should A...

Autism a neurodeficit perspective

Image
abstract / summary: The attention in autism is best achieved by repeating the posture of attention. instead of frequently teaching movement based learning, if the parents indulge thier time in sitting based learning; better attention can be established. similarlly, the more time parents spend with kid in face to face eye to eye sitting floor based connection, the easier for the kid to socialise. Socialisation and communication is possible only between 2 living beings. No amount of activities or engagement through non living toys or activities or mobile or youtube is going to help. in fact, by continuously or repeatedly keeping child busy with objects toys or mobile, we are desocialising child by promoting solo play. Best games to initiate in autism kids are face to face sitting games like snake& ladder, uno cards, carrom; or in younger kids simple games like chawu mawu , tota udd kauwa ud ,  ithe ithe bais re mora , karangali marangali.    hadel happ khar kabutar doli...
